Wednesday 3 February, Convene, County Hall
The Scope 3 Strategy Day 2027
We get everyone working on Scope 3 together, cross-industry, to challenge and build our strategies for 2027. We will provocatively question how Scope 3 is currently tackled, make sure the voice of suppliers is heard, and make sure everyone gets the templates of best practice, not just the inspiration.
We organise over 250 Peers into Teams of six based on industry, maturity, challenge and progress. You will spend most of the day with the Peers you need to collaborate with, copy from or support. All the insight comes from Peers, and we take the chance out of meeting the right ones.
No sponsors, pitches, show-off presentations or uncertainty that you'll meet the right Peers.

Who is in the room with you, who is on your team and table, and how do your challenges compare?
Oliver Hurrey, Chair, Scope 3 Peer Group and special guests
A panel of those who have made good progress on Scope 3 in their organisations will share what they achieved in 2026 and what we need to do more, less, better and differently to tackle Scope 3 in the pivotal year of 2027. Including perspectives from two tiers of a value chain and the leading Scope 3 programmes.
How do we not be busy fools? Are we measuring ourselves to death?
What can we do differently and more dynamically?
How can we get the internal governance and buy-in right to take action?
What will really move the dial on actual decarbonisation?
Speakers will include procurement & sustainability leaders; advisory board Peers; Peers on our Supplier Voice Board and be representative of as many Peers in the room as possible.
Including Q&A, team discussion on how fresh thinking could apply to your own Scope 3 plan, and comment from others in the room.
OUTPUT
Case-study templates for fresh approaches to Scope 3, and an agreed set of best practice principles for Scope 3 strategies in 2027.
11:00-12:15
How do we align internally on Scope 3 as a business priority?
12:15-13:15
Lunch
Let's cut to the chase. 2026 was supposed to be our “get sh*t done” year. It hasn't been easy, and much of that is down to engaging and aligning internal stakeholders, the challenge of building business cases, and a lack of effective, clear governance of Scope 3, all while the world changes rapidly around us.
Many of the biggest barriers to Scope 3 progress are not technical. We'll explore how leading organisations are bringing procurement, finance, sustainability, commercial teams and senior leadership together to make faster decisions and accelerate supplier decarbonisation.
Key questions:
Who should really own Scope 3 strategy and delivery?
What governance structures help organisations move from targets to action?
What incentives and accountability mechanisms actually change behaviour?
Speakers will be senior procurement, sustainability, finance and commercial leaders, including Peers involved in developing the Scope 3 Governance Framework.
Peer Team Exercise: map your current decision-making arrangements, identify where progress gets blocked and agree what needs to change.
Continue to make progress on February 4: At the Scope 3 Governance and Capability Building Procurement & Category Managers Workshops
Relax and network, both in your designated team of Peers (with similar challenges, maturity, suppliers and goals) and all the rest of the Scope 3 Peer Group
OUTPUT
A Scope 3 Governance Framework and templates for developing your own internal Scope 3 strategy, for faster decisions and action in 2027.

Reinventing Supplier Engagement: From Requests to Reductions
How do we stop overwhelming suppliers and start helping them decarbonise?
Supplier engagement remains one of the biggest priorities for Scope 3 Peers. Yet many programmes still revolve around questionnaires, targets, data requests and training that don't always translate into measurable action. We'll explore how leading Peers are segmenting suppliers, building capabilities, embedding decarbonisation into commercial relationships and collaborating for greater impact, including lessons from the Scope 3 Value Exchange Summit.
Critically, we'll reverse the usual conversation and give suppliers the opportunity to tell buyers what they need.
Key questions:
How do we identify which suppliers need which kinds of support?
What works when engaging smaller or less mature suppliers?
How do we avoid duplicating requests and overwhelming shared suppliers?
What support, incentives and commercial commitments do suppliers actually need?
How can buyers work together across supply chain tiers to accelerate progress?
Speakers: the Scope 3 Peer Group Supplier Voice Board and Peers running advanced supplier programmes.
Peer Team Exercise: identify which elements of your supplier engagement approach should change, and which requests could be simplified or harmonised with other buyers.
Continue to make progress on February 4: At our Supplier Engagement & Capability-Building and Supplier Decarbonisation Workshops
OUTPUT
A co-created toolkit of Peer advice for building or evolving your supplier engagement and data strategy, and a Peer “Supplier Ask Charter”: a common minimum set of asks and principles for engaging suppliers.

Show Me the Reductions: Data, PCFs and Proving Real Progress
15:00-15:30
Networking break
We're investing in supplier decarbonisation, so why isn't the progress always showing up in our Scope 3 inventories?
Many organisations are taking meaningful action but struggle to demonstrate the results in their reported emissions. We'll examine how Peers are moving beyond spend-based estimates, introducing supplier-specific data and product carbon footprints, and connecting real-world interventions to credible emissions reductions.
Key questions:
Why don't our supplier decarbonisation efforts always appear in our reported numbers?
When is supplier-specific data or a PCF worth the effort?
How do we measure reductions from renewable energy, energy efficiency and lower-carbon materials?
How do we manage baseline changes, methodological uncertainty and double counting?
What's the minimum viable improvement to our data that will help us make better decisions?
How do we communicate progress honestly to our boards, customers and investors?
Speakers: Peers who have introduced supplier-specific or hybrid data, improved their PCF approaches, or navigated significant changes in their emissions methodology.
Peer Team Exercise: identify the most important improvements to your measurement approach and the reductions you most need to demonstrate.
Continue to make progress on February 4: At the PCF Clinic; and Proving Real Reductions Workshop
OUTPUT
A practical template for tracking supplier interventions, improving data quality and demonstrating emissions reductions.

Who Pays? Unlocking the Economics of Supplier Decarbonisation
If we know what needs to happen, how do we make it commercially possible? The economics of decarbonisation are often the biggest obstacle to scaling action. Suppliers may lack the capital, confidence or commercial incentives to invest. Buyers may struggle to justify green premiums, share costs or commit to longer-term demand. We'll examine practical approaches for building the business case, unlocking investment and aligning incentives across value chains.
Key questions:
How do we build the business case for decarbonisation when costs and commercial pressures are increasing, including the resilience and input-cost arguments boards respond to?
Who should pay for supplier renewable energy, clean heat and energy efficiency?
How can buyers and suppliers share costs, risks and benefits?
Can pooled purchasing and collective demand help unlock lower-carbon materials? Drawing on the S3PG Low Carbon Materials survey.
How can procurement and finance teams make decarbonisation commercially attractive?
Which financing and contracting approaches are already working?
Speakers: a procurement or finance leader, a supplier implementing decarbonisation investments, and a Peer involved in collaborative financing or low-carbon purchasing.
Continue to make progress on February 4: At the Carbon Pricing for Procurement; Decarbonising Supply; and Supplier Decarbonisation Workshops
OUTPUT
A practical menu of business-case, financing, procurement and commercial incentive mechanisms, with examples Peers can explore in their own organisations.

You & Your Team’s 2027 Scope 3 Strategy
From 17:00
Scope 3 Peer Group networking drinks and dinners
What will you actually do differently when you return to work?
We've explored what works, how to organise for action, how to engage suppliers, how to demonstrate progress and how to unlock investment. Now it's time to turn those insights into a practical plan. Working with your Peer Team, you'll develop your own Scope 3 Strategy on a Page using the templates, examples and lessons from the day. Your strategy will identify:
Your priorities: the three most important challenges or opportunities to address in 2027.
Your actions: what you will start, stop or change.
Your collaborators: which colleagues, suppliers, Peers and initiatives you need to involve.
Your evidence: how you'll measure whether your actions are delivering meaningful progress.
Your next steps: which 4 February workshops and Do Projects can help you implement your strategy.
We'll finish by asking selected teams to share their most important commitments and what support they need from the wider Peer Group.
We will also hear from the Peers that attending the Innovation Day about what they discovered.
OUTPUT
Your own 2027 Scope 3 Strategy on a Page, three priority actions, and a practical route into the 4 February workshops and ongoing Do Projects.
